The Barnwell Garden and Art Center has been at the heart of gardening in Northwest Louisiana since its construction in 1970.  Its signature Conservatory has been an introduction to nature for thousands of school children and an inspiration to visitors seeking a quiet oasis in busy downtown Shreveport.  The Barnwell Center has provided a meeting place for area garden clubs and plant societies and is a frequent site for specialty flower and plant shows and floral arrangement displays.  Gardening education is a major mission of the Barnwell Center.  The Friends of the Barnwell Horticulture Speaker Series brings gardeners to the Barnwell from September through May to hear experts and specialists lecture on garden design and horticulture.     Check this web site often for program announcements.
