Friends of the Barnwell Celebrate
Our 30th Anniversary
2012 marks the 30th anniversary of The Friends of the Barnwell. We are proud to announce the beginning of this yearlong celebration of our thirtieth anniversary. The FOB started serving the arts and horticulture community in 1982, with events, exhibits and projects, and is comprised of local leaders and advisers throughout our community.
The Friends of the Barnwell have continued to bring the citizens of Shreveport/Bossier and surrounding areas quality art, horticulture and educational programs for all to enjoy. In 2011, we enjoyed more than 40,000 visitors through our doors, not counting all who attended special Art Receptions, Club Meetings and Friends sponsored events. The Friends are proud to announce the payment of more than $21,000 to the Local, Regional and State artistic community for sales of their original works of art during 2011.
As an integral part of the 30th anniversary, we would like to invite the citizens of Northwest Louisiana to join us in our yearlong birthday party starting January 26, 2012, with the second Annual Mardi Gras Art exhibit featuring Gail Shelton, Karen Harrington and Jillene Faulk and the local Mardi Gras Krewes costumes, memorabilia, and such. You will not want to miss all the additional special events scheduled throughout the year. A brief sampling of 2012 events include: Hot Jazz on the Red, Mother’s Day, Treasures from the Past, July 4th Celebration, Traveling Art Exhibits, beginner’s art classes, seminars for artists, horticulturist and educational tours for young and old alike.
To begin the year the Friends of the Barnwell would like to recognize the effort and contribution of all our members over the past three decades, along with those of the
City of Shreveport, its employees, and members of the Shreveport City Council.
The Board of Directors elected new officers to lead the Friends of The Barnwell into 2012 and beyond. The Friends of The Barnwell would like to thank these individuals for their willingness to serve the Barnwell Center and the citizens of Northwest Louisiana.

2012 HOT JAZZ ON THE RED!
This FREE outdoor concert series is held every Thursday evening on our patio from 6pm to 8pm beginning April 19 and ending June 14! You wanted earlier dates to hopefully avoid all the hot weather, so we listened. Here are a few of the folks enjoying last years concerts.
We decided to leave these up so you will plan to attend next year, just in case you were unable to come and enjoy the 2011 concerts!
