The Barnwell Garden and Art Center showcases one of the few classical plant conservatories in Louisiana. Under its towering dome you will find collections of plants from throughout the tropical world. Palms, bromeliads and unusual trees and foliage plants make their home within the conservatory. The conservatory transports visitors to tranquil and soothing forests and gardens in the world's exotic locales. The Barnwell's domed conservatory has served as the iconic landmark for the riverfront for nearly four decades.
The Fragrance Garden is designed to enhance visits to the Center for the visually impaired. Located on the south end of the center, the garden includes a variety of plants easily indentifiable by smell and by touch.
