Two hundred years after the French term beaux arts was first translated to fine arts, the Barnwell was born. Today it continues to provide budding artists a superb location to cultivate their dreams by offering introductory classes, interactive workshops, and a place to proudly display their work.

The Barnwell is widely recognized as a center that focuses on paintings in a multitude of mediums including oils, acrylics, pastels, and watercolors of fine art influenced by the flair of local talent. Three galleries rotate art exhibits on a monthly basis. These exhibits include local, regional, and nationally known artists. On any occasion, you can find yourself swept away in admiration of unique art. The Barnwell is fortunate to be supported by a plethora of local talent organized into several respected art groups.

One of the Barnwell missions is to promote the education and enjoyment of our culturally diverse art. You can find some of that art integrated in our local landscapes, adorning our local buses, or dressing the sides of our large inner city buildings because it is an important part of our culture.
